Members need to sign in to book for any Forum UK event
The Forum UK programme is our most important platform for promoting women’s leadership and for enriching each other’s lives by sharing knowledge, ideas and intellectual capital. Our programme is the hub of all our activity and the key to providing and maintaining our sense of community.
The programme incorporates the core categories: breakfasts; behind the scenes tours; briefings; dine-arounds; special interest groups and the annual events: AGM; Jean Denton lecture; Summer Cocktail party; Christmas breakfast. In addition we look to promote the international agenda and benefits of membership of IWF through participation in the IWF programme. We hope our Forum UK 2007/8 programme will encourage networking, growth and the development of Forum for the future.
| An evening at The Geffrye Museum | 6.30pm |
event £ 15
A private opportunity to see the Museum's special exhibition, A Garden Within Doors, including a talk by exhibition Curator and the Museum's Deputy Director, Christine Lalumia.
This exhibition looks at the enduring appeal of plants and flowers in the home and investigates the meanings and values associated with indoor plants. It explores the role houseplants and arranged flowers play in homemaking and in the psychology of the home, whilst takes into account changing fashions and tastes.
The Geffrye Museum is set in the 18th century former almshouses of the Ironmongers' Company. It explores the home over the past 400 years, from around 1600 to the present day. The focus is on the living rooms of the urban middle classes in England, particularly in London and the Museum also has impressive gardens, including a beautiful walled herb garden.
There will be easy access to the Museum via the new East London Line which opens later in May.
This event has been kindly organised by Forum UK member, Penny Egan, who is Chairman of the Trustees, at the Geffrye Museum.
Drinks and nibbles will be served.
